The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) is the digital nerve centre of the Pune Smart City initiative, bringing together data from traffic, surveillance, public safety, utilities, environmental systems, and municipal services into a single intelligent platform. It orchestrates the city's critical operations in real time, enabling seamless coordination, faster decisions, and uninterrupted urban services that impact millions of citizens every day.
Innover Systems enables this connected ecosystem by integrating technologies such as VTS, Smart Poles, CCTV, Public Address Systems, drones, weather stations, sensors, and monitoring dashboards. Innover helps ensure that every aspect of the city works in sync, enhancing safety, efficiency and the overall quality of urban life.
APPROACH
Innover's solutions operate quietly in the background, yet their impact is massive as they monitor, control, and safeguard an entire city, touching millions of lives without ever being seen. The challenge was to understand and creatively translate the technological components that power Innover's critical operations acting as the invisible backbone of urban life. If they falter, the consequences can ripple outward: systems will fail, order will break down, and the city can grind to a halt.
Our challenge was to decode this technology - to understand what it does, why it matters, and what it quietly holds together. We had to then visualise a creative concept that captures the weight of that responsibility and the seamless precision with which it runs - day after day
We identified that Innover's solutions span every critical layer of the city - land, water, and air. Rather than showcasing technologies in isolation, we mapped them onto the fabric of Pune, using the city itself as a canvas to demonstrate how each solution impacts a specific aspect of city life while collectively enabling seamless city-wide operations.
SOLUTION AREAS
To bring this idea to life, we translated ICCC’s responsibilities into a spatial journey built around three primary intelligence layers - Land, Water, and Air, each representing a critical dimension of city management. Together, these layers revealed how seemingly independent systems are continuously monitored, coordinated, and connected through a single operational ecosystem.
The visitor experience begins with the vision of responsive governance and unified city management, progresses through the intelligence layers, and culminates in the National Resilience zone focused on preparedness and future readiness. Engaging environmental graphics, immersive storytelling, and curated content transformed complex infrastructure and data systems into an engaging and accessible experience.
OUTCOMES
The project successfully converted a highly technical command facility into a powerful communication platform that clearly articulates the role of Innover’s technology in Pune’s daily functioning. By presenting city operations through the lens of interconnected intelligence layers, visitors gain an immediate understanding of the scale, coordination, and foresight required to manage a modern smart city. The space now stands as a tangible representation of Pune’s Smart City vision, demonstrating how this intelligence works behind the scenes impacting numerous lives everyday.
